To start off this Eco-Conscious Series, I thought we should go back to basics... with our underwear.
When it comes to something so intimate and close to our skin, our underwear should ideally be made from breathable, natural fibers that are free of toxic chemicals. Better yet, they should be ethically made! Wearing high-quality, comfortable, and mindfully made undies allows us to walk through our days with a little bit of extra confidence as we work towards making this planet a healthier place to call home.
To help you begin to navigate the world of sustainable fashion, I've put together a list of 5 eco-conscious underwear brands using ethical & sustainable practices in the production of their garments. Let's get into it...
Not anymore. Personally, I will be changing the way I consume products going forward by putting more thought into the brands I buy from and looking closely at the necessity of my purchases. As consumers, we have the power to influence what businesses do by choosing what we spend our money on. Stella McCartney sure recognises this!
I'm not saying that you have to give up shopping altogether (I'd be out of a job!) but going into the new year, think about these three things when making a purchase:
1. Question where your clothing is coming from and try to buy from brands that are using environmentally sustainable practices and support fair wage & working conditions.
2. Choose responsibly. Only buy it if you love it and will wear it over and over and OVER again. Consider vintage or thrift shop items.
3. Buy less. The £10 pound dress bought only for a night out is probably going to be thrown out soon after and will eventually sit in landfill for up to 200 years, releasing a multitude of toxic chemicals. Don't be that person.
Whilst 'The True Cost' made me think twice about my consumption choices, it also inspired me to start a series of blog posts helping others to discover eco-conscious/sustainable brands and to show that you CAN be both ethical and stylish!
